Kioxia CEO Hiroo Ota officially denied plans for a joint production venture with SK Hynix. This statement refutes recent comments from SK Group’s chairman suggesting a potential partnership.
Ota identified antitrust regulations as a primary hurdle to any deal. He also cited complications regarding Kioxia's existing manufacturing partnership with Western Digital subsidiary SanDisk.
Integrating a third manufacturer into the established SanDisk structure would be difficult, according to Ota. SK Hynix currently maintains an indirect stake in Kioxia despite the lack of a formal alliance.
