SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung announced a global production expansion to defend the company's lead in the AI memory market. Speaking at the Global Tech Forum in California, Kwak stated that the AI industry cannot exist without memory components.
The strategy focuses on major investments in new fabrication and packaging facilities. SK Hynix is currently developing a large-scale semiconductor cluster in Yongin, South Korea, alongside other domestic sites.
The company is also building an advanced packaging plant in Indiana. These expansions aim to meet surging demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and secure a long-term technological edge.
