Tesla allegedly presented misleading safety data to European regulators to secure Full Self-Driving (FSD) approval. A June 15, 2026, Reuters report states the automaker shared self-published statistics with authorities in Sweden and the Netherlands.

Independent traffic-safety experts labeled the data as deceptive promotional material. The figures reportedly inflate FSD safety performance compared to human drivers.

Tesla is pursuing wider FSD deployment to recover European market share. The Dutch road regulator (RDW) granted FSD approval in the Netherlands in April.

RDW is currently seeking EU-wide approval on Tesla's behalf. While RDW claims it conducts independent testing, the allegations challenge the transparency of Tesla's safety assertions.
