CATL announced a new sodium-ion battery featuring a 20-year lifespan.
The unit supports up to 15,000 charge cycles. The technology targets an electric vehicle range of 600 km. The design maintains performance in extreme cold conditions. CATL plans a commercial rollout for late 2026 pending third-party testing.
The company also introduced the One Shell, Two Cells hybrid architecture. This platform integrates sodium-ion and lithium-ion cells within a single pack. The approach aims to lower costs and accelerate market adoption. Automakers can adopt the system without complete product line retooling.
