Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) expects up to 20,000 vehicles to feature its sodium-ion batteries by 2026.
Chief Manufacturing Officer Ni Jun announced the target during a Bloomberg Television interview. He highlighted that the batteries remain operational in temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius.
The forecast provides a specific adoption metric for the company's sodium-ion technology. CATL shares rose 2% in Shanghai and fell 1% in Hong Kong during Thursday afternoon trading.
