Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) signed a 2 GWh agreement with Solarpro for its Tener sodium-ion energy storage systems. This partnership will deploy the first large-scale sodium-ion energy storage project in Central and Eastern Europe. Work is scheduled to begin in 2026.
The deal marks CATL's second major sodium-ion order in Europe for July 2026. The Tener Sodium system features a long operational life and high efficiency in cold climates.
Sodium-ion batteries provide an alternative to traditional lithium-ion technology by utilizing more abundant raw materials. This move accelerates the adoption of next-generation energy storage across the region.
