SoftBank Group is preparing a 1 trillion yen ($6.26 billion) bond issuance for Japanese retail investors. This transaction would represent the largest retail bond sale ever by a Japanese corporation.
The company intends to use the proceeds to fund expanding investments in the artificial intelligence sector.
The proposed seven-year notes will likely carry an interest rate in the upper 4% range. Final terms for the offering are expected in early September.
SoftBank stated the Nikkei report is not based on an official announcement and declined further comment.
