Alibaba will terminate AI Agent features in its Tongyi Qianwen large model service on July 15. ByteDance will simultaneously discontinue similar features in its Doubao service on the same date.
These decisions respond to the Interim Measures for the Administration of Anthropomorphic AI Interaction Services, which also take effect July 15. Both tech giants are taking preemptive measures to ensure compliance and mitigate risks under the new regulatory framework.
The move follows a broader government crackdown on AI application irregularities. Shanghai authorities have already removed over 14,000 non-compliant AI agents.
