American Airlines to Be Removed From Dow Jones Transportation Average

S&P Dow Jones Indices announced on May 28, 2026, that American Airlines Group Inc. (AAL) will exit the S&P Dow Jones Transportation Average (DJTA).

This change takes effect before the market opens on June 1, 2026.

The removal stems from the stock's low price. This price reduced the stock's weighting in the price-weighted index to below half a percentage point.

FedEx Freight Holding Company Inc. (FDXF) will replace American Airlines.

This addition coincides with the completion of FedEx Corp.'s spin-off of its freight division. FedEx Corp. (FDX) remains an index component.
