Apple intensified its legal battle against OpenAI through new court filings alleging trade secret theft. Former Apple engineer Chang Liu reportedly used a confidential circuit schematic while working at the AI firm.
Investigators discovered the proprietary designs on a MacBook Liu used at OpenAI. Apple filed the original lawsuit in July and recently received the device as part of the legal proceedings.
Apple claims Liu used the stolen designs to train an AI agent. The filing further accuses Liu of instructing an OpenAI colleague to destroy evidence after learning of an internal investigation.
Apple is now seeking an expedited discovery process to prevent the loss of additional trade secrets. OpenAI previously moved to have the case dismissed.
