Apple Inc. will modify its App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework to settle a multi-year antitrust investigation by Germany's Federal Cartel Office. The regulator determined that Apple’s rules gave its own applications preferential treatment through less discouraging consent prompts.

Apple committed to redesigning consent pop-ups for third-party apps to ensure neutrality and provide developers with greater flexibility. These changes will be implemented within four months across most of the European Union.

The settlement includes a seven-year monitoring period to ensure compliance. This decision follows a series of regulatory actions aimed at opening Apple’s ecosystem to more competition in Europe.
