Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky announced that artificial intelligence now generates nearly 60% of the company’s new code. This automation allows development teams to release new features more quickly. The disclosure came during Airbnb's first-quarter 2026 earnings call, which also highlighted strong revenue growth.
Airbnb’s AI-powered customer support bot now resolves over 40% of issues without human intervention. These technological shifts contributed to an approximate 10% year-over-year reduction in cost per booking.
Chesky also detailed a management overhaul, stating that Airbnb no longer has room for pure people managers. All managers are now expected to engage directly with technical coding work.
