Amgen and AstraZeneca announced positive top-line results from the Phase 3 CROSSING trial for Tezspire. The drug treats eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). EoE is a chronic inflammatory esophageal condition that causes difficulty swallowing. Tezspire is already approved for severe asthma.
The trial met its two primary goals. It achieved histologic remission, a reduction of eosinophils in esophageal tissue. The trial also improved dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing.
Results were observed at 24 weeks. These results sustained through 52 weeks. Tezspire's safety profile in this trial remained consistent with its known profile in approved indications. The companies plan to share full results with regulatory authorities.
