Amrize has broken ground on a modernization project for its cement plant near Montreal. This represents the largest investment in the Canadian cement industry over the last decade.
The upgrade will increase annual production capacity by 300,000 tonnes to a total of 1.2 million tonnes. The project is expected to expand the local workforce by 25%.
The facility aims to reduce its net carbon footprint by more than 40% by 2035. This initiative positions the plant as the most advanced and sustainable facility in Eastern Canada.
The expansion supports the Canadian government’s infrastructure plans. It ensures a local supply of cement for upcoming projects in Québec.
