Amazon blocked Meta’s new AI assistant, Muse, from accessing its e-commerce platform to make purchases. The retailer stated Meta lacks an agreement for store access and violates its Conditions of Use.

Amazon cited security and privacy risks as the primary reason for the block. It alleged the AI agent captures and stores customer credentials without consent.

The move intensifies a standoff over agentic commerce, where AI assistants shop on behalf of consumers. This conflict centers on control over customer relationships, user data, and online shopping revenue.

Amazon previously blocked similar AI shopping agents from Google, OpenAI, and Perplexity.
