Amazon has unveiled its next-generation Proteus warehouse robot, now enhanced with AI-powered conversational capabilities. The new model allows employees to assign tasks using natural language, after which the robot independently determines the priority, route, and timing for moving goods across the entire warehouse floor.
This upgraded robot is part of a larger €10 billion ($11.6 billion) investment into Amazon's European fulfillment network. The company plans to roll out the new Proteus robots in its European facilities during the first half of 2027, emphasizing that the technology is designed to assist and support human workers with physically demanding tasks, not replace them.
