AWS became the first cloud provider to receive approval for handling NATO RESTRICTED workloads across all member nations on Tuesday. This designation covers sensitive information that requires safeguarding but remains below the classified level. Spain’s National Cryptographic Centre granted the approval following a multi-year security evaluation.
The blanket approval enables all NATO members and defense industry partners to utilize AWS services for restricted workloads. This authorization applies to any AWS region located within a NATO member country.
The move streamlines the accreditation process for individual nations. It reduces the time and cost required for members to meet security and compliance obligations when using AWS.
