Amazon signed a 600-megawatt Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Skyborn Renewables. This agreement marks the largest single PPA in German history. Electricity will be sourced from the planned Gennaker offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.

Amazon’s long-term commitment provides the financial certainty for Skyborn to begin construction on the nearly 1-gigawatt project. The wind farm is scheduled to become operational by the end of 2028.

The deal reinforces Amazon’s position as Europe’s largest corporate buyer of carbon-free energy. This initiative is a core component of the company’s goal to reach net-zero carbon across operations by 2040.

Separately, AWS is considering selling its custom Trainium AI chips to third parties. This move could create a major new revenue stream as the company deepens its focus on artificial intelligence.
