Amazon's Prime Day anchors a summer sales period. This period increasingly challenges the traditional dominance of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Adobe Analytics reports U.S. retailers recorded $26.4 billion in online spending from June 23 to June 26. This marks a 9.3% increase year-over-year. The four-day total approaches the $32.5 billion spent during the five-day holiday shopping window from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday in 2025.

The event's first day became the biggest online shopping day of 2026. Spending across all U.S. retailers reached $8.3 billion. This marks a 5.3% jump from the first day of Prime Day last year.

Electronics, appliances, and home improvement saw strong sales. Consumers also focused on essentials. This trend prompted competitors like Walmart and Target to launch their own concurrent sales events. This solidifies a major new mid-year peak for the retail industry.
