American Express held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new global headquarters on July 9, 2026. The 55-story skyscraper is located at 2 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. This project represents the final commercial building planned for the World Trade Center campus. The milestone occurs nearly 25 years after the September 11th attacks.
The tower will span nearly two million square feet. American Express will solely own and occupy the entire building. The development is expected to contribute billions to the local economy. Construction will create thousands of new jobs. American Express plans to welcome employees to the facility in 2031.
