AstraZeneca secures $1.5B rights for Zegfrovy, targeting rare lung cancer mutations

AstraZeneca finalized an exclusive global licensing agreement with Dizal Pharmaceutical for the lung cancer drug Zegfrovy. The deal grants AstraZeneca worldwide rights to develop and commercialize the oral inhibitor. Zegfrovy targets non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations.

AstraZeneca will pay Dizal an upfront fee of $600 million. The agreement includes up to $900 million in potential milestone payments. Dizal remains eligible for tiered royalties on future sales.

Regulators in the U.S. and China have already approved Zegfrovy for second-line treatment. AstraZeneca expects to launch the drug in the U.S. market during the fourth quarter of 2026.
