Boeing lands 100-jet SMBC order, signaling strong aircraft leasing demand

Boeing secured an order for 100 737 MAX aircraft from SMBC Aviation Capital at the Farnborough International Airshow.

The deal includes 60 of the high-capacity 737-10 models. It also features 40 of the 737-8 variant.

This transaction marks the first purchase of the 737-10 model by SMBC. The agreement was one of the largest announced on the opening day of the event.

The order expands SMBC’s total 737 MAX portfolio to 450 owned, managed, and committed jets. Leasing companies now account for more than 20% of the total 737 MAX backlog.
