Boeing’s 777-9 reached Type Inspection Authorization (TIA) Phase 4B, a critical stage of FAA testing. Stephanie Pope, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, announced the milestone at the IATA AGM. FAA personnel will now participate directly in flight tests to validate safety and operational procedures.
The approval unlocks the largest remaining portion of the 777-9 flight testing program. Boeing targets aircraft certification by the end of 2026.
This schedule enables initial deliveries of the wide-body jet in early 2027. The development follows significant delays for the highly anticipated aircraft program.
