Indian air safety officials will travel to Seattle to observe Boeing’s testing of a fuel-control switch panel. Officials removed the component from an Air India 787 following pilot reports of a potential defect. These reports originated during a February flight from London to Bengaluru.

Regulators describe the test as a sensitive matter. The scrutiny stems from an ongoing investigation into a June crash in Gujarat. This accident resulted in 260 fatalities.

A preliminary report found that the fuel-control switches were shut off almost simultaneously. This action cut fuel to the engines and caused the fatal accident.
