Boeing officially withdrew from the U.S. Navy’s Undergraduate Jet Training System (UJTS) competition. The company stated its T-7A Red Hawk does not meet current requirements to replace the aging T-45 Goshawk fleet.
The exit leaves Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Freedom Trainer and the Textron-Leonardo M-346N as the remaining contenders. The U.S. Navy plans to acquire 216 aircraft. Officials expect to award the contract in 2027.
