Brookfield-backed Compass Datacenters abandoned plans for an 800-acre site in Northern Virginia. The site was part of the planned 2,100-acre Digital Gateway.
The Virginia Court of Appeals voided the project’s rezoning approval due to improper public notice for hearings. Local opponents successfully challenged the development over environmental concerns and proximity to the Manassas National Battlefield.
Prince William County supervisors recently voted to drop their legal defense of the rezoning. Compass confirmed it will not pursue further appeals, ending its involvement in the massive development.
