S&P Dow Jones Indices will add Bloom Energy Corp. to the benchmark S&P 500 index. The change becomes effective before the market opens on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026. This addition is part of a scheduled quarterly rebalancing.

DNA-sequencing firm Illumina Inc. and data storage company Everpure Inc. will also join the index. These three firms replace Molson Coors Beverage Co., The Trade Desk Inc., and Builders FirstSource Inc.

Bloom Energy shares surged more than 7% in after-hours trading following the announcement. Passive investment funds tracking the S&P 500 must now purchase shares of the newly added companies. This mandatory buying often drives a rally in the stock prices of incoming firms.
