Beta Technologies completed the first operational flights under the FAA’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP) on July 10. The mission transported manufactured organs for United Therapeutics to demonstrate electric aviation’s medical utility.
The aircraft covered 275 nautical miles across four airports in Virginia and Maryland. This flight validates the reliability of electric aircraft for complex, low-cost medical logistics.
Beta’s shares rose over 5% following the announcement. The company currently participates in seven of the FAA’s eight eIPP launch programs, the highest involvement of any developer.
