The Cyberspace Administration of China approved Apple to launch its Apple Intelligence services. The regulator registered Apple's on-device generative AI, a mandatory step for public release in the country.

Apple will power these features through partnerships with Baidu and Alibaba. Chinese law requires foreign firms to use domestic technology for generative AI services.

Alibaba will integrate its Qwen model across Apple's operating systems. Baidu is collaborating with Apple to develop AI features specifically for Chinese iPhone users.

Shares of all three companies rose in pre-market trading following the announcement.
