Chinese authorities resumed issuing robotaxi permits following a suspension that began in April. The decision follows the completion of an industry-wide safety review launched in late June.
The move enables autonomous vehicle companies to resume expansion and testing activities.
Officials initially halted permitting after more than 100 Baidu Apollo Go vehicles suffered a simultaneous outage in Wuhan. The incident caused the robotaxis to stop abruptly and disrupt local traffic.
Baidu’s operations are now resuming in Wuhan, with vehicles returning to city streets.
