BP appointed Ian Tyler as permanent chairman, a role he held on an interim basis since May 26, 2026.
The appointment follows the unexpected dismissal of Albert Manifold after only eight months. The board removed Manifold amid serious concerns regarding governance, oversight, and conduct.
Tyler joined BP as a non-executive director in April 2025. He brings experience from the energy and engineering sectors, having previously chaired Cairn Energy and Grafton Group.
Senior Independent Director Amanda Blanc will not seek re-election next year. Blanc led the extensive search process for the permanent chairman role.
