BSE Limited shares declined over 2% on August 20, 2026. The stock hit a day's low of Rs 3,280, marking a 2.15% drop. Prices fell 3.24% from the intraday high.
The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) is reportedly considering trading its own shares on its own platform. This move would follow the NSE's initial public offering and listing on the BSE. Investors fear the proposal could shift trading volumes away from the BSE.
The plan requires approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi). According to Bloomberg, NSE shares would trade under the permitted to trade category. This development follows a Jefferies downgrade of BSE, which cited higher securities transaction taxes and revised bank-guarantee norms.
