Blackstone formed a strategic partnership with Nippon Life Insurance, Japan’s largest insurer.

Nippon Life will invest approximately 1.5 trillion yen ($9.4 billion) into Blackstone’s private and structured credit strategies. This capital commitment will be deployed over the next five years.

The agreement also covers real estate management for about a dozen of Nippon Life’s Japanese properties. Blackstone will apply its expertise to maximize the value of these large-scale urban assets.

The alliance aims to improve Nippon Life’s asset management capabilities and access to investment opportunities. It simultaneously expands Blackstone’s footprint in the Japanese institutional market. Both firms will also collaborate on employee training and risk management practices.
