Canadian National Railway (CN), Ray-Mont Logistics, and the Prince Rupert Port Authority opened the $750 million CANXPORT logistics hub on August 28, 2026. Located on Ridley Island, the facility is designed to increase Canadian export volumes to Asian markets.
The hub transloads agricultural goods, forestry products, plastic resins, and mining commodities from railcars into shipping containers. CN supported the project by expanding the Zanardi Rapids Bridge to accommodate higher rail traffic. This facility marks a strategic shift for the Port of Prince Rupert, which has historically prioritized import operations.
CANXPORT will handle 400,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually during its first phase. Capacity may eventually expand to 750,000 TEUs. The project was funded by the Canadian government, the Province of British Columbia, and the Canada Infrastructure Bank, with additional partnerships from Indigenous Nations.
