Coinbase launched Coinbase for Agents to connect user accounts with AI agents like ChatGPT and Claude. These agents autonomously execute trades and pay for services to bridge the gap between research and action.
The feature currently supports cryptocurrency spot markets and derivatives. Users can deploy agents via main accounts or isolated portfolios with customizable spending limits and security guardrails.
Coinbase plans to expand the tool to include equities and prediction markets. The system uses the x402 payment protocol to access premium research and data APIs without separate logins.
This launch follows a similar agent-based trading feature introduced by competitor Robinhood in late May.
