Coinbase Global now offers initial public offering (IPO) allocations to its U.S. retail customers. This initiative advances the company's strategy to become an Everything Exchange. Smart-ring manufacturer Oura will serve as the first available IPO on the platform. Eligible users may request shares at the issue price before they begin trading on the open market.

Customers can request allocations through a new IPO page within the Coinbase app. Final share distributions depend on underwriter supply and total customer demand. Coinbase Capital Markets, a FINRA-registered broker-dealer, facilitates the service.

The platform's allocation algorithm prioritizes buy-and-hold investors to promote long-term investing. Users who sell their IPO shares within 30 days may be temporarily barred from participating in future offerings.
