Alberta will launch its regulated online sports betting and iGaming market on July 13, 2026. The province becomes the second in Canada to allow private operators, following Ontario. This shift ends the monopoly previously held by the government-run Play Alberta platform. The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) will oversee the new competitive framework.
DraftKings plans to launch its sportsbook and online casino products on the opening date, pending regulatory approval. The company has already opened pre-registration for users in the province. Alberta marks the 34th regulated jurisdiction for DraftKings in North America. Dozens of other operators are expected to join the market during the transition.
