Ecopetrol S.A. received approximately COP 1 trillion from the Colombian government to settle receivables from the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (FEPC). The payment covers outstanding balances for the second quarter of 2025.
The government issued short-term Class B Treasury Securities (TES) to facilitate the settlement. Ecopetrol received COP 0.8 trillion of the total, while its subsidiary, Refinería de Cartagena S.A.S., received COP 0.2 trillion.
This capital infusion addresses debts from the fund used to maintain stable domestic fuel prices. The payment enhances Ecopetrol's liquidity to support ongoing operations and investment plans. This transaction reflects a coordinated effort between the company and government ministries to reduce FEPC balances.
