The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) will implement substantial transit surcharge increases across most vessel classes starting July 15. These adjustments affect tankers, gas carriers, bulkers, and containerships using the waterway.
Laden crude oil and petroleum product tankers face a surcharge increase from 25% to 37%. Ballast vessels in these segments will see surcharges rise from 15% to 27%. Dry bulk carrier surcharges will more than double, jumping from 10% to 22%.
The SCA attributed these changes to current maritime market conditions. No market reaction was observed for the Canal Shipping Agencies Company following the announcement.
