Siemens Energy signed an agreement with Mai-Liao Power Corporation, a Formosa Petrochemical subsidiary. The contract covers equipment and long-term services for a new 2,400-megawatt gas-fired power plant in Taiwan.

The facility will replace 1,800 megawatts of existing coal-fired generation capacity. This transition will reduce carbon dioxide emissions per kilowatt-hour by approximately 58%.

Siemens Energy will supply four SGT6-9000HL gas turbines for the project. These turbines will power two combined cycle units alongside generators, steam turbines, and auxiliary equipment.

Commercial operations are set to begin by the end of 2029. The plant is projected to provide 5% of Taiwan’s total power generation.
