Shares of Eos Energy Enterprises jumped as much as 14.4% in premarket trading Wednesday after the company announced a three-way collaboration with Google and MN8 Energy to build a clean-energy complex in West Virginia. The project is valued at roughly $350 million — but for a company still burning cash and issuing stock at a furious pace, the question is whether marquee partnerships can outrun balance-sheet gravity.

A Big-Name Customer, but Eos Supplies Only Part of the Project. MN8 will own and operate the facility, which combines 86 MW of solar, 10 MW/100 MWh of Eos zinc-based long-duration storage, and 70 MW/280 MWh of lithium-ion batteries.

Google will purchase the energy, capacity, and clean-energy attributes. Eos's slice — the zinc storage — is the smallest component. The deal validates the technology but does not make Eos the project's economic anchor. The long-duration storage piece won't reach commercial operation until 2030 , meaning revenue is years away.

Revenue Is Surging, but Margins Are Deeply Negative. Q2 2026 revenue hit $68.8 million, up 351% year over year, driven by a 207% jump in battery deliveries.

Backlog reached a record $807 million. Yet gross margin was a loss of 69%–73%, reflecting start-up costs and low initial production volumes.

Net loss attributable to shareholders was $275.7 million for the quarter alone. Selling more product at negative margins does not build value — it accelerates cash drain.

A Wall of New Shares Hangs Over the Stock. An August 31 filing registered 56.5 million shares for resale by existing holders.

Separately, Eos issued over 30 million warrants tied to its Frontier Power joint venture.

Outstanding common stock stood at roughly 340.6 million shares as of June 30 , so these instruments collectively represent potential dilution — new shares that shrink each existing investor's ownership — of more than 25%. A key Cerberus lock-up expires in December 2026 , which could add selling pressure.

Google Validates the Tech, but Execution Risk Is Real. This is the first commercial-scale long-duration storage deployment in West Virginia , a symbolic milestone. However, Eos recently cut the high end of its 2026 revenue forecast from $400 million to $350 million , and roughly 49% of backlog comes from its own related-party joint venture. Investors cheering Google's name should weigh that reality against a stock trading at $3.33 — down from the $7–$8 range just months ago.
