Equinix and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) finalized their $4 billion acquisition of atNorth. atNorth operates as a major data center operator in the Nordic region.

The deal provides Equinix a significant footprint across all five Nordic countries. This includes eight operational data centers. Numerous projects are also under development.

atNorth will continue to operate as an independent brand. It will use the new ownership to accelerate its expansion plans.

The acquisition aims to meet increasing demand for AI, cloud, and high-performance computing infrastructure. The Nordic region is known for its renewable energy sources.

Under the deal, CPP Investments holds a majority stake of approximately 51%. Equinix holds about 34%.
