GlobalFoundries (GFS) finalized the acquisition of the ARC Processor IP Solutions business from Synopsys. The company will integrate the acquired unit and its engineering teams into MIPS, a subsidiary previously purchased by GlobalFoundries. This move strengthens GlobalFoundries' capabilities in custom silicon and Physical AI.
The transaction merges the MIPS and ARC portfolios into a unified offering of RISC-V processor IP, AI cores, and software tools. This platform provides clients a direct path from software to silicon for automotive, industrial, and IoT applications. Synopsys retains its interface and foundation IP businesses.
