China's central bank expanded its bullion reserves by 20 tonnes in August, equaling its most significant monthly acquisition since October 2023. This latest transaction extends the institution's streak of consecutive monthly gold purchases to 22.

The August activity follows a steady ramp-up in holdings, including 20 tonnes acquired in July and 15 tonnes added in June. These figures represent a sustained period of accumulation as the central bank continues to build its precious metal inventory.
