Corning Inc. and three other U.S. firms pledged a combined $2 billion to South Korea. This investment targets the nation's semiconductor and clean energy industries. South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy hosted the announcement ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Corning will upgrade its production facilities in Asan. The company has operated in South Korea for over 50 years. New funds will install advanced equipment for next-generation mobile and semiconductor materials.
Air Products will invest in semiconductor gases. Axcelis Technologies will provide chip equipment. Pacifico Energy will fund offshore wind power.
