Alphabet's Google will pay £260 million ($354 million) to settle a UK class-action lawsuit. App developers filed the suit.
The lawsuit accused Google of abusing its dominant market position. It cited unfair and excessive commission fees, typically 30%, on Play Store transactions. The Competition Appeal Tribunal received the suit.
The proposed settlement awaits tribunal approval. It would end litigation scheduled for trial in September. Google does not admit liability or wrongdoing as part of the agreement.
The terms allocate £160 million to compensate eligible developers. The remaining £100 million will cover legal costs.
