Google will implement major Play Store billing changes in the U.S., U.K., and European Economic Area starting June 30, 2026. These updates stem from the company's legal settlement with Epic Games. Developers may now offer alternative in-app payment systems or direct links to external websites for purchases.

Google is restructuring costs into a separate service fee and billing fee. The 10% base service fee applies regardless of the billing method used. This rate covers a developer's first $1 million in annual revenue. Transactions processed through Google Play incur an additional 5% billing fee. Google waives this 5% fee for developers using third-party systems.

The new policies will roll out globally in phases through September 2027.
