Google is developing a new server chip, codenamed "Frozen v2," designed to run its Gemini AI models more efficiently by embedding parts of the model's architecture directly into the silicon. [1, 4, 6] This project aims to address an internal AI computing capacity crunch and could make the chips six to ten times more efficient than Google's current custom hardware. In other major tech news, Apple has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the AI developer of misappropriating trade secrets to advance its own hardware ambitions.
