Alphabet’s Waymo launched its fully autonomous ride-hailing service in Denver, San Diego, and Tampa. This expansion increases the company’s total operational footprint to 14 cities.

Waymo will initially offer rides to a select group of waitlisted users. A gradual rollout to the general public will follow in the coming months.

This move intensifies competition in the autonomous vehicle sector as Waymo scales commercial operations. The initial Denver service area covers approximately 60 square miles.

Waymo is deploying its new Ojai robotaxi in Denver and San Diego. Zeekr manufactures this purpose-built, van-like electric vehicle.
