Honda and Nissan are nearing an agreement to co-develop a shared software platform and operating system. The partnership focuses on software-defined vehicles (SDVs) that support remote updates and new feature integration.
The automakers expect to launch the first models using this technology as early as 2029. By unifying software and hardware development, the companies aim to significantly reduce costs and accelerate innovation.
The collaboration will utilize Nissan’s existing technology as a foundation with additional contributions from Honda. This project-specific alliance follows failed merger discussions between the two companies in 2025.
